Guide to Update R4i SDHC Dual Core DSi V1.4.3 and 3DS V2.1.0.3

First of all, for this tutorial we need a Nintendo DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL or 3DS not have the latest version. Sure you know a friend, relative or neighbor who could give us. The console must be fully charged and the power adapter connected throughout the process.

1) Download the software update R4i SDHC Dual Core (megaupload, filesonic)
2) Unzip the contents and copy it to a micro SD card has been formatted.
3) Put the card in our cartridge R4i SDHC Dual Core, we introduce the console and turn on. If the cartridge does not start automatically click on the icon and start it.
4) Now we go to Games as if we were to load a game and run the file by pressing A. fwupdate_for_3dsV3_SDHC.nds
5) You will leave a message in English indicating if we want to update the cartridge. Press the button Y (yes) and the process will begin.
6) We’ll see how the percentage will increase to finish the process. It is very important not to turn off the console or remove the cartridge during the upgrade. If that happens, the cartridge would be permanently damaged.
7) After the process, we removed the cartridge micro SD card, format it and install the software to our R4i SDHC Cartridge Dual Core.


How to use

R4 NDSI user notice: Insert Micro sd card (TF card) into the r4i sdhc or r4 sdhc card according the the guide of the following picture.
1. Download Kernel and Game
By using TF card reader, connect the TF card with computer, open the memu.
    a. Upload game kernel: Copy the R4.DAT file to your TF card..
    b. Upload video kernel: Copy the Moonshl2 to your TF card.
    c. Upload DIY Interface function: Copy the R4iMenu to your TF card .
2. Copy games
By using TF card reader, connect the TF card with computer, copy the downloaded games to TF card. (If needed,    corresponding menu can be set up)
3. Main menu operation
Make sure microSD card with Kernel is inserted in R4i NDSI, then insert R4 NDSI in NDS SLOT-1 port, start the machine and enter main menu interface. By pressing buttons (right and left) or touching screens, you may choose the games or media function, press A to the relative function.
4. Game operation menu
Choosing game function in Main Menu to enter Game interface, return to main menu by pressing R.
5. Game Operation
Choose your expected game in the game menu, press A or touch the screen to play games.
6. Cheat Operation
Choose the games, enter Cheat by pressing B or X.
7. Skin change method
Four files are alternative in the R4iMenu/Skin category: they are TScreen.bmp, BottomInit.bmp, TScreen.bmp and BottomScreen.bmp, which are the operation interface of R4, content in the pictures can be changed at random.
Notice: The above files names can not be changed, picture must be in .bmp format with 8 or 24 digits, picture size must be of 256*192 pixel.
Once your favourite picture is ready, copy the complete category  "TF card R4iMenu/ skin"  to TF category.

If the NDSi screen appears the following information during the upgrading process, it means that your R4i V1.41 card does not support upgrade from V1.41 to V1.42, this problem is currently being worked on, please pay attention to our website for the latest updates.  

Q: If the screen displays "Please upgrade the hardware for support the latest firmward", how should i do?
A: When you have this kind of the flash card which is marked with V1.42 or V1.41 or 3DS upgraded successfully for NDSi 1.4.3, but still using with old kernel v1.41b/1.42b, an error message will be showed, please download and update the latest kernel to use.

Q: How to return back to the firmware/kernel during playing game?
A: Press at the keys (left + right + up + down + X + Y + B + A + L + R) during playing games.
Q: How to return back to the firmware/kernel from Moonshell (multimedia player)?
A: Press " start " button, and select the " Return to the firmware " from the menu.
Q: Stuck at the "MENU" screen after loading DSi.
A: No firmware or wrong firmware was installed in the SD card. Please refer to the instruction to install R4i-SDHC to the SD card. The instruction can be found at the R4i-SDHC official web site www.r4i-sdhc.com.
Q: Stuck at the "NO CARD" screen after loading DSi.
 A: SD Card not found. Please check whether SD card was insert properly or not into the flash card. Otherwise SD card could be fault.
